REFLECTIONS SERIES:
Impressionistic reflections of New Yorkers against an urban billboard are derived from asphalt and water in Union Square, New York City. By portraying a surreal environment with faceless people who looked like everyday apparitions, I found my vantage point to be helpful in stretching the truth. I originally started this series in black and white and then experimented with color, giving each image quite a different impression, a starker more contemporary theme. After reviewing the prints, I noticed that Andy Warhol’s former studio at 17th and Broadway was a recurring background in most of the images. This might be a common thread for a composite installation.
