Bhukhampa - the Earthquake Aftermath in Nepal
Project info

Nepal was hit by two large earth quakes on 24. April and 12. May 2015. Some 9000 people were killed, 16000 injured and more than half a million homes and buildings were destroyed.

Most of the recovery and reconstruction since the earth quakes have been carried out by families, neighbours and friends. The reconstruction supported by the Government of Nepal moves slowly due to excessive bureaucracy and ineffective authorities.

The photographer lives in Kathmandu, Nepal, and experienced both earth quakes and the hundreds of aftershocks that occurred in the following months. The images in this series are taken in the months after the earth quakes. Bhukhampa means earth quake in Nepali.
