In December 2022, I embarked on a transformative journey to Iceland, a country that quickly captivated me with its raw natural beauty and ever-changing atmosphere. After an initial 10-day exploration, the profound connection I felt compelled me to return for an extended 50-day sojourn on the island’s western shores. During this period, I immersed myself in capturing the elusive magic of Iceland
"Magic Island" is an ongoing project that strives to awaken emotions rather than tell a story. My approach is simple yet profound—photographs straight from the camera, with no digital manipulation whatsoever. No artificial intelligence, no Photoshop, and no filters have been used. In my technique, I sometimes place a piece of colored plastic in front of my flash—a method I discovered two decades ago when I first picked up a camera. This technique subtly transforms the light, enhancing the mystical and dreamy essence of the scenes.
My work is not about capturing images but about experiencing and conveying the intense emotions, feelings, and dreamlike quality of Iceland. I invite viewers to discover Iceland anew, far removed from clichéd postcards and typical imagery.
As of March this year, I continued to explore and photograph Iceland, with plans for numerous return visits. "Magic Island" is a lifetime project, culminating in the release of a photographic book hopefully this year.
