Refuge in exile
Exile does not always necessarily mean to live abroad in a country not one’s own. Rousseau said man is born free but everywhere he is in chains. We all live differently in ways which are absolutely our ‘own’ for we contemplate to live in a land of our own dreams but these contemplations contradict the actual conditions of our living. Thus the sufferings which we would have to undergo in exile come upon us in childhood, youth and in old age for the land where we actually live becomes alien to us. To visualize this contrasts, contradictions and sufferings all around me is the theme of my new project.
