This style of shooting really engages you as a participant rather than as a passive observer. "Painting with Light" is a technique where you adjust your camera on a tripod for very long exposures. Dressed in black and looking like a ninja you implement your vision using special flashlights to draw or paint in the air around your subject. I chose Echo Park in Los Angeles as a location because of its romantic quality, body of water and the floating electric swan boats. My talent, Faleena Hopkins, who is an accomplished author and actress was very excited to be part of this endeavor. I think the onlookers must have thought we were crazy but I was thrilled with the excitement of shooting something quite out of the ordinary. This was something of a life experience, boots on the ground, 'I was there' series of moments that made it all worthwhile. .....And what is photography but a way of capturing your point of view...your witness to the world.
