The cooks. Every summer for a week we meet up and cook for the first session of an outdoor camp of 100. Some of the cooks are there longer - 2,3,8 weeks. Most of us have or had kids that were campers there. It’s sweaty and buggy with long days of cooking. We sleep in tents, laugh, bake bread, cook, wash pots and pans, go into the walk-in to cool off, eat big family dinners with the entire camp, check for ticks, drink a lot of coffee, sometimes cry, watch kids grow up, crack a lot of eggs, write recipes, swim in the creek in the early morning, read, write, cook some more and cheer as the campers come back from being out on the trail for days.
Photographed using a Rolleicord that someone gifted me a few years back. It sat on a shelf in my closet until last year when I decided to give it a go. It's been a journey learning how to use this camera. Time slows down a bit. Everything about the process is perfectly imperfect.
