ZONA FRANCA (FREE ZONE)

FREE ZONE (series). Phenomenon of tradition and social ritual born around the 30s, in the last century,”la spiaggia” (the beach) is a playful space which soon transformed in a sort of free zone shared by people of any kind of social class .A tanned skin , considered churlish for ages, becomes an added virtue. On this stage it is difficult to distinguish hierarchies and social status that are identified in the everyday life through the possession and the flaunt of objects which symbolism them. We recognize the peddlers, sometimes treated with a tolerant “ holiday kindness” wandering among the beach umbrellas together with their poor goods and hard stories that non one wants to listen to. This work is built on an original idea and develops into a series of images. With this series of photo/graphic collages , I try to fix gestures and attitudes which are repeated in an almost codified and transversal way, a work of subtraction and selection in order to isolate situations that are camouflaged in the confusion. With irony, to smile even at myself because i am part of it
