The other Asia

This series depicts urban life in the north of Tajikistan, mostly the city of Khujand, which is one of the oldest cities in the world. Because the 'Stans' were once part of the former Soviet Union, people do not necessarily associate these countries with Asia and Central Asia often goes under the radar or is wrongly associated with war-torn Afghanistan. With this series, I hope to show the region's historical heritage, multiethnic character, its colorful people, all of which make the ancient city of Khujand, one of the most remarkable cities in Central Asia.
