When I was working on this subject, although my photographs are in color, I had in mind the book "The Americans" by Robert Frank, "The Europeans" by Henry Cartier-Bresson; but also "People of the Twentieth Century" by August Sander. My photographs belong to this great tradition. I have used the camera as a tool to explore the identity of Parisians, both men, and women, but also to capture, spontaneously, the fascination that the human figure exerts on me, the expressions of people in buses, train stations, and in certain neighborhoods on the upper bank of the Seine. I shoot from a medium distance with a 35mm lens, looking for a certain graphic shape that I always have in mind and with a personal sense of light, while trying to have the people immersed in their thoughts.
