What happens when your country disappears? Pride and pain in post-Soviet Central Asia

This series shows glimpses of life in post-Soviet Central Asia. Seventy years of colonization and the subsequent collapse of the USSR left lasting scars on the economic and social fabric of those societies, yet it also created opportunities for renewal. With this series, I hope to show the region's historical heritage, multiethnic character, colorful people, and unsuspected existences.
