The Dance of the Olive Trees. "This work is a tribute to the earth, to nature, to the beauty of the olive trees; a journey that has been repeated for years, to rediscover the most intense places of my childhood." This series is taken from my book "La Danza degli Ulivi" published in 2005. The book is the consequence of work carried out over 20 years of research and study of these centuries-old trees. For some years these olive trees have been disappearing due to a disease, Xylella, and the resulting European economic policies which have not shown real interest in the environmental and economic protection of this great cultural and natural wealth. Many of these trees are no longer there and my book remains a testimony to what was present in the countryside of Puglia, my homeland. My regret remains for what is happening, for this land and for the short-sightedness of many operators, even in the field of photography, who, for many years, have ignored this issue. Questa serie è tratta dal mio libro "La Danza degli Ulivi" pubblicato nel 2005. Il libro è la conseguenza di un lavoro, svolto in oltre 20 anni di ricerca e studio di questi alberi secolari. Da qualche anno questi ulivi stanno scomparendo a causa di una malattia, la Xylella, e delle conseguenti politiche economiche europee che non hanno dimostrato un vero interesse per la salvaguardia ambientale ed economica di questa grande ricchezza culturale e naturale. Molti di questi alberi non ci sono più e il mio libro rimane una testimonianza di quanto era presente nelle campagne della Puglia, la mia terra di origine. Rimane il mio rammarico per quanto sta avvenendo, per questa terra e per la miopia di molti operatori, anche nel campo della fotografia, che, per molti anni, hanno ignorato questo tema. Adesso, molti fotografi vanno in Puglia per fotografare un Cimitero. Massimo De Gennaro
