Mano a Mano

The series utilizes dolls to stage scenes of unarmed physical violence, examining "mano a mano" combat as a cross-culturally sanctioned outlet for male aggression, dominance, and control. Captured in single, lens-based exposures, the compositions rely entirely on natural light interacting with complex layers of reflective and textured surfaces. In post-production, the final images are inverted and manipulated through shifted color and tonal values.
