A Dream Within A Dream is a portrait photography series which dives into the imagination, the places where creativity stems from. Konsta Klemetti examines the dreamy, often surreal landscape of the artistic mind attempting to visualize the unseen. The series takes its name and inspiration from Edgar Allan Poe’s seminal poem of the same name where the poet muses on life and art - the relationship between reality and dreams. “All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream.” Each portrait session started with personal interaction and conversations with the creatives and resulted in magnetic and painterly layered images that reach beyond the traditional studio portraiture. All photos are done in-camera, no effects, layers or coloring were added afterwards in software. They ask how do the models see themselves in reflection to their creative work and what kind of stories can be told of the artistic work? Is there anything left behind the thought process, traces of the inner world?
