Photo triptych: “Given Continuity”
A series that depicts the differences between men and women and reflects the culmination of their union → balance, birth, life, and thus continuity.
For the series, underwater photographs were taken of lilies (symbolising fertility and continuity) in a lake in Germany (Trais-Horloffer See) and mirrored against each other. This creates a characterful and fanciful image, revealing the following characteristics:
First photo: “Untamed,” shows masculine characteristics → turbulence, alternation between darkness and light, striving, shield/sword/struggle, earthiness, strength, phallus, explosiveness.
Second photo: “Cycle,” shows the life cycle → gathering, protection, school, network, family, order, continuity, connection, baby bump, new life.,
Third photo: “Serenity,” shows feminine characteristics → calmness, light, connection, anchor (family), safety, womb, connection to heaven, spirituality, serenity, uterus, implosive.
