Photographic exploration of the complex and often contradictory relationship between the body, the sun, and contemporary ideals of beauty.
Through a series of images documenting bodies in different states of sun exposure and tanning, the project reveals how the skin becomes a site of transformation, tension, and negotiation. The sun—traditionally associated with vitality, pleasure, and desire—also emerges as a force that alters, erodes, and reshapes the surface of the body.
In this context, tanning shifts from being merely an aesthetic marker to an ambiguous gesture: one that oscillates between care and overexposure. The series highlights the cultural and social dynamics that influence how bodies are displayed, protected, or even sacrificed in pursuit of an idealized image.
