“Pictures from a Second Home”

This project is inspired by Larry Sultan's “Pictures from Home”. During the making of «Pictures from Home» Larry Sultan realises he wishes to take photography literally. To stop time. He wants his parents to live forever. This wish specifically, is probably something we`ve all felt or are feeling. When the reality sadly is that everyone we love can not live forever, we need to remember to value them whilst they are still here. In 2009 Larry Sultan died of cancer. Still, his work lives on, through pictures, text, sound recordings, books, even Broadway plays. And everyone who ever has, is and continues to be inspired by his work. I got about half way into this project before I released Larry Sultan was no longer alive. I was so consumed by the photography I simply missed it. Suddenly, it was like a piece of my puzzle went missing. Sultan was only born a few years before my own grandmother and grandfather pictured in this series, and I suppose it really put things into perspective. It is because no one lives forever, we should unapologetically and loudly show love, to those we love. This project could not have been done without my incredible grandparents Eilif and Mariann, who has always shown me the meaning of loveing loudly. This project is dedicated to them
