Commuters

Commuters explores the fleeting theatre of everyday urban travel across London's transport network. Photographed from buses, Underground trains, platforms, stations, and transitional spaces, the series focuses on the small moments that often pass unnoticed: a glance through a window, a solitary figure waiting at a bus stop, commuters disappearing into tunnels, reflections merging strangers into a shared scene. Public transport fascinates me because it brings together people whose stories briefly intersect before diverging again. For a few seconds, they share the same space, the same journey, or the same view, yet each carries a different destination, memory, and purpose. Rather than documenting specific individuals, this project seeks to capture fragments of these untold narratives. Reflections, glass, movement, weather, architecture, and the geometry of transport systems become visual layers through which these stories emerge. As both a photographer and a storyteller, I am interested in the tension between observation and imagination. The camera records what is visible; the viewer completes what remains unseen. Commuters is an ongoing exploration of those transient encounters that shape city life, revealing how ordinary journeys can contain moments of mystery, beauty, and human connection.
