le pigeonnier

These sequences were made in south west France in collaboration with the artist Angela Findlay. They are responses to the imposing location, an eighteenth century pigeonnier containing over 1300 boulins, or pigeon holes for lodging of a pair of birds, forever tethered to the building yet always free to fly. The strange and not fully understood ability of these birds to find their way back from an unknown location hundreds of miles away is part of the inspiration behind the main sequence, "Borne & Bound", the freedom of winged flight bound by the certainty of the small rectangle of home.
