The Urban Void
Cities are their inhabitants. Devoid of human presence, they are no more than a decor without the theatre piece. This photo series shows metropoles including New York, Chicago, Glasgow and Detroit.
But the urban rhythm has vanished; apart from a solitary shadow, human activity is absent. Barren of traffic, construction work, conversations and other signs of liveliness; these are the scarce muted moments of urbanity, stripped of the ceaseless stream of sensory stimuli. Stilled, but not hardened; these images capture the softness and tranquility in the eye of the urban storm. The result is at times uncanny, but equally contemplative.
