Love is made a Vague Regret
Project info

Studies inspired by the painting 'April Love' by Arthur Hughes. None represents the pose of the original painting, but rather explore how poses are used to express inner feelings, in this case emotions related to love and regret. The poses may seem exaggerated by modern standards and the theme sentimental. The object of love is not shown at all in these studies and is just a shadowy figure in the original.

The images are shown in the order which the model Ivory Flame interpreted her brief.

The title is from Tennyson's poem 'The Miller's Daughter’
