Florotica - Freudian Flowers
When I first embarked upon this creative journey, I choose flowers as my subject because, as Freud himself put it so nicely, they are ”… restful to look at. They have neither emotions nor conflicts.” At least I thought so then and I so needed their calming presence in an otherwise tormented life. I suffer from Endomitriosis and also Bipolar Type 1 (Manic Depression).
I therefore have chosen to create intimate portraits of flowers as well as more abstract works of art from the same source. This ongoing project is called "Florotica - Freudian Flowers" and it is my way of both dealing with my illnesses and transforming my experiences of pain and lust through the natural beauty of flowers in a deeply personal vision.
