Harold

Harold was diagnosed with cancer in 2012. He had undergone radiation therapy to kill the tumor cells. Once the process was finished doctors had successfully destroyed the cells. There was no trace of cancer, the doctors stated. Two years later the cancer was now back. This time in order to kill the cancer doctors required a harsher process, chemotherapy. According to the American Cancer Society "African Americans have the highest death rate and shortest survival of any racial and ethnic group in the US for most cancers." This photo series discloses the pain, hurt, and loneliness of a 56 year old African American man battling cancer for the second time. This time he takes on the battle with chemotherapy (the use of drugs and medicine to treat cancer) . Can a couple of weeks in the hospital feel like a lifetime of misery?
