Street Census Chicago
This was a year-long natural history project to document 10 neighborhood locations in the city for posterity. The white background mimics the cotton batting lining specimen drawers in the Field Museum of Natural History.
We set up the stage and 8X10 camera for a day in each location. The original negatives are archived in cold storage at the University of Illinois at Chicago, endowed in perpetuity. Subjects were selected by whim as they walked by. This selection shows one picture from each location.
The prints are 5x7 feet.
