Currently, modern man is proud of its technological and social achievements. Apparently, life goes on without major problems. We have all kinds of comforts and advances that we had not envisioned decades ago. However, there is concrete evidence of how little humanity has progressed in the most basic social aspects. There are men and women who have been left behind in this technological maelstrom. The timer has stopped for them. The sway of modern life is so fast that they succumb trying to reach it.
This work is about Pedro, a homeless man who lived in a cave south of Mexico City. His life made me think about the terrible irony that is to live in a cave in the XXI century. He lives isolated from the world building scarecrows to mark his territory. He uses tools from the caveman era but manufactured from contemporary items. His world is completely wild and he lives surrounded by trash generated by our society. Pedro is the most tangible and irrefutable evidence, of the failure of Mexican “modern civilization”. Pedro is the prehistoric man, the contemporary caveman.
