Yarchen Gar is located in Sichuan province in China. It lies in an isolated valley 3900 m above sea level. It is a home of about 10000 Tibetan Buddhist nuns and monks. Buddhists spend their time praying and meditating. The Chinese goverment plans to demolish it, as it did to Larung Gar, a similar monastic settlement in Sichuan some 350 kms away.
