This is a project about woman over the age of 40 who are single and childless.
Growing up in catholic Ireland, there was always a presumption that women would grow up, get married, have children and live happily every after.. by the age of 30.
40 was considered "over the hill", and to be single and childless at this age, one was considered sad and lonely. Having lived in London for most of my adult life, this notion of conforming to society was not seen as an issue. Finding myself single and childless at the grand 'old' age of 40 set me about confronting this issue and questioning how it was in other cultures.
10 women, 10 cultures - all single and childless.
In some cultures, it is easier to break from the norm or accepted than it is for others.
