DENIAL

" DENIAL" is a series of 27 wet plate collodion 8x10 tintypes. This is a look at the difficulty for women to see themselves in the mirror as they are and accept herself as they are. Thanks to a specific used of a photographic process that leaves a lot of accidents on the pictures, I want to let you perceive the negative thoughts that a woman can generate facing her own image. These work also evoke cumbersome beauty dictates imposed by men and society that make the assessment of its own image that arduous. Combining the high and law of my life and the one of all the women around me, younger and older, I felt the urge to express how revolting it is to have it so difficult to think about oneself outside and despite anything to do with how we look like and how the one we seek love from wants us to look like. It is kind of tabou to talk about it even if it is such a big part of any woman's life. There is still a lot to understand and to be changed in any and everyone's behavior to find freedom and peace for women. Paris, France, avril 2016.
