Vesta Lunch

The photographic moment. The idea was to try to capture what happens after the shutter is closed, after the moment is gone. We take a 60th of a second of reality and present it as a continuum, a representation of an object and we make it remain as we saw it forever. But after we take our material away things keep happening, events change the understanding of the photographic object. Light, people, weather, give us different notions of the same moment. The project also started as a way to replicate some of Edward Hopper's works, specially the one called "the nighthawks" which here is the picture taken at 6am. The place is called Vesta Lunch, one of the most emblematic greasy spoons in Toronto, located at the Annex, a transition area between universities, colleges, old houses, and rundown areas.
