'No regular business' started as a personal project in March 2013. It shows young photographers in their private spaces, photo-artists who have decided to move to Berlin in the past years, mainly with the intention to give their career a kick. Animated by the will and hope to get recognition in an important art-center, they strive to learn the language and understand the German culture. Even though the rent prizes are still relatively affordable for an European capital, finding a room can often be an adventure, if not a fiasco. In many cases, not being able to prove any guarantees to the landlords due to the lack of a regular job leads them to join living communities, so called ''WG-s'', where the costs are split. Of course, other scenarios are possible, too. 'No regular business' is a series about faith, struggle, loneliness and passion. It interrogates what it is to be a photographer in the 21st century and tells how migration has reached nearly every professional category. It displays the already classic pair private/public, questioning if a visual artist's identity can be made visible through the very means of his own practices and strategies. In many ways it is a series about me.
