I am amazed and intrigued by the many very cheap plastic household items that are on sale at pricefighter stores. Often the practical use of these items isn't appearent at first sight but they are so cheap we buy them anayway. Once at home they often don't function, the construction is bad and they end up in the bin. It's cheaper to buy new then to fix them. By taking these objects out of the context of the pricefighter store and photographing them on a black background with much attention to form and light their perceived value alters from junk into gadget. This is a long term project. My aim is to photograph 99 items that fit my discription; Very cheap (around € 1,00), household item with "practical use", made of plastic.
