PASSAGEWORKS II-FRENCH BOAT GRAVEYARD 2014
This was another chance encounter, two years ago, with a seminal photo site in France. ("PASSAGEWORKS" meaning photos taken "en passage," at sites perhaps never to be visited again...) These pictures represent for me a special discovery, and an intense but brief relationship to place. One knows one will not revisit, at least not anytime soon--and yet the site is meaningful and profound--it simply MUST be photographed.
These boats could not be boarded, so the trick was to dance in and out with the camera, seeing the whole boat, then the wonderful color and texture and detail of its aged "skin." I've tried to reflect that dance, and the exciting photographic experience I had, in the sequencing of these pictures.
