Lamb of god
"Not That will be broken a bone"
(Gv 19, 36)
Exodus 12.1 to 14, in the liberation Easter night every family had to sacrifice a lamb a year old without blemish, and consume roasted meats to the fire. To be roasted lamb was crossed vertically by a pomegranate stick. St. Justin tells us that a second stick passed horizontally across the shoulders to keep open the front legs. So the two sticks that supported the Paschal victim showed the figure of a cross. St. Catherine of Siena writes Peter to John Ventura: "There, you'll find food, because you see well that he gave you the meat in food, roasted upon the cross, the fire of charity" (Letter 47).
