Life in Brazil's Favelas
Project info

This is a series of daily scenes and portraits of favela and poor neighbourhood residents in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, taken in August, 2016. Although favelas have a notorious reputation for crime, they are also home to millions of people who just want to get on with their lives. Poverty and lack of options force them to live in these districts where robberies and murders are common occurrences and the ease of access to drugs is both a temptation and threat. But the vast majority of residents want to dodge trouble, and many dream to triumph over their hardships.
