Duality creates the illusion of a world that mimics reality and provides a setting where only my alter ego and I coexist. This series is the evolution of Becoming the Buffalo, which I consider to be the birth of my alter ego. The Buffalo is taken from the black void of its creation into outdoor locations where we are forced to interact in what is an unfamiliar environment to us both. The photographs are taken with a pinhole camera, which allows me to spend time as both personas. The longer exposures provide the opportunity to contemplate the setting as a different character while also creating the illusion of ghosted figures. The impressions left behind are important because my relationship with The Buffalo is about accepting the other and the fact that our life together was preordained but not without complications.
