Chinese Tourists in Paris
France, with 87,7 million tourists visiting the country in 2013, has become the world most visited country.
Chinese tourists are the second biggest group of visitors to France after Americans, and numbers are growing fast. Around 1,4 million Chinese tourists head to France each year; being Paris their main destination.
They like to visit the most famous landmarks as well as the stores where they buy luxury goods. By some estimates, half of the world's luxury spending will come from Chinese wallets by next year. These luxury products (often made in China) are purchase outside the country. The main reason they buy abroad is price. Taxes and higher prices strategies can increase the value in China about 50% more than a shopper would pay elsewhere.
Because of this affluence of Chinese shoppers, many stores in Paris are hiring Chinese speaking shop assistances.
