Pomaks of Bulgaria

They're pomaks, muslim people who live in mountains, South of Bulgaria. They are simple people living than they produce. Humble people who have livestock, that plow the field or cultivate tobacco plants to survive. During Soviet Era they were persecuted and forced to forget who they are. Their traditions, their culture and their religion were buried until today. For many years they had to keep quiet and hide their origins. With the new age, they began to fight for their origins. Their weddings are a symbol of fight to reaffirm their tradition, culture and religion.
