In Trump Country

These portraits didn’t seem quite so important then, before the election. They do now. Many couldn’t believe or wouldn’t believe it might happen. These people did. Donald J Trump, then Republican candidate, succeeded in galvanizing and mobilizing a core of dissatisfied, disillusioned and disenfranchised voters across the country. Traveling around his home state of NY I was inspired to embark on this project witnessing the growing number homemade signs for Trump. For me, the messages carried by the signs were incomplete without an insight into the messenger also. I decided to meet the people behind the signs and photograph them.
