My Name is Bar.
Although born with severe cognitive and physical disabilities, 28-year old Bar lives a life rich with meaning. He is a well-loved and valued member of a life-sharing community in western Massachusetts. In that community, people with and without disabilities live together as a family on a small homestead farm. The rhythm of each day revolves around house and land work with all members of the household contributing to the fullest extent of their capabilities. When not assisting with cooking or carting soil, compost and vegetables around in his wheelbarrow, Bar enjoys swimming at a local college and participating in dance and movement classes at a local community center. He is surrounded by people who know him well, appreciate his sense of humor and enjoy his sociable nature.
