The Incas of Huamachuco is a traditional dance of the Huamachuco town, located in the northern highlands of Peru. This dance evocate the death of the Inca Atahualpa (the last Inca emperor).
The main characters of this dance are the Incas, who dresses with 18 polleras (skirts) and other female clothes.
Modern times are influencing this traditional dances and every year are less dancers (specially young ones). My intention with this project is to preserve this ancestral tradition.
