The goal of the work is to eliminate the notion of gender, to solely see the beauty of the body without the connotations associated with one gender or another. By utilizing clothing and posture, I photographed individuals to explore the person as an individual. I see my work as a collaborative process between myself and the model, allowing them to present themselves the way they want the world to see them. My interest in creating this work lies in how gender non-conforming individuals have historically been treated. These individuals have been silenced or ignored for centuries, this work seeks to bring visibility and to start a conversation about the biases and interpretations some hold.
