For my series 47 Years, I photographed my mother's apartment before it was emptied and sold. The title indicates the time lived in that apartment. Here, the marks are an indicator of my parent's relationship and of my mother's sadness and loss. It is an uncomfortable and melancholy view of mortality, fear of the unknown, and what we leave behind. They are images of a place, but more so, are portraits.
These are not sentimental photographs.
