Allahabad Kumbh Mela. Ticket to Heaven.
I spent two weeks along the sandy banks of the Ganges in Allahabad, India, in order to document the largest religious festival of the planet, the Maha Kumbh Mela. Approximately 100 million pilgrims have gathered in this city sacred to the Hindus between the end of January and the first days of March 2013. In order to take this picture I had to dip in the cold waters of the sacred Ganga waiting for the spectacular collective dive of the real stars of the Kumbh Mela, the Naga Sadhus. These are holy men who spend most of their lives in meditation, naked and covered with ashes, on the mountains , deserts and forests of India.
