March for Science NYC
While there are many important stories people need to learn about, I believe the war on science is the most critical of them all. The technology we depend on, the medicine we use to heal, our ability to rise above our primate relatives, the fact that we can touch the celestial bodies, all this is possible because of science. Science creates the world we live in and we cannot allow our administration or anybody else to silence that. The Roman Inquisition did so during the second half of the 16th century with the persecution of Nicolaus Copernicus, Galileo Galilei, Giordano Bruno and countless other scientists and this set our world back decades, if not centuries. If we are so willing to repeat the mistakes of the past, then clearly, we have not advanced as a species and if this truly the case, we might as well go back to living in caves because that is what our ancestors did before they discovered science.
