This series explores the tension filled relationship between the human created urban landscape and the natural landscape that surrounds us. There is a constant back and forth between the two, humans take over and nature slowly takes back. Living in the Pacific Northwest the wet provides the environment for nature not only to sprout up almost everywhere, but also for the gardens humans plant to explode with greenery and flowers, sometimes in very manicured ways. I have documented both of these examples in this series and have noticed that the relationship between the two landscapes creates beautiful and dramatic scenes. This kind of landscape is one of the ways to recognize the Pacific Northwest. It is a relationship that seems to be against each other but creates a beautiful landscape that allows the best of both worlds. It is also my home.
