While in Malawi I came across this unique family of 6 children orphaned by AIDS living together under the supervision of their aging grandmother. In Malawi it is customary to split the family up to be raised by accepting families throughout the country, however this family fought to stay together. They share all responsibilities and when possible they attend school several miles away. Between my visits with this family, their home caught fire and destroyed all contents down to the mud walls when the youngest child was left alone to watch the morning fire while the others did their chores. Despite this setback, the N'Goma family persevered and show their resilience as they tend to their responsibilities and repair their home. They believe they are stronger together.
