The American Wilderness
Although begun before the last Presidential election, walls and divisiveness gained an ascendency as the election progressed. Every housing division begins with the wall before even the foundations and well before any people. Do the walls act to protect residents and keep those who don't belong out? Or do the walls compress and confine to keep people in unbearable proximity? Do we only create a community with others who hide behind our wall and seem similar? Or do we work to foster a conversation so that the wall loses its power and we see neighbor instead of foe? Somehow we must find a way through this wilderness we have created, cherish and replicate.
