Sierra Leone, Beyond Ebola

Sierra Leone should be the Saudi Arabia of Africa. It is home to some of the world's largest diamond mines, precious gems and oil. But it's people live in some of the worst conditions on the planet. Sierra Leone is considered to be the most dangerous place in the world to be a pregnant woman with the highest infant and maternal mortality rates anywhere. If the child is lucky enough to survive the first three years he or she can start working in the rock mines crushing stones in to different sized pebbles. This photo series documents the people of Sierra Leone and the challenges they face.
