War in the Donbass

After having photographed the unrest in Ukraine's capital that led to the overthrow of divisive leader, Viktor Yanukovych, I returned to the country in the summer and travelled East to document the war as it unfolded. The resulting photographs depict life in Ukraine's restive East, both for civilians caught in the fray, as well as with the allegedly Russian-backed fighters engaged in the increasingly brutal conflict.
