Port Sudan is a major port on the Red Sea in The Republic of Sudan. A complicated country with sanctions against them from the United States, a severe civil war in South Sudan, constant human atrocities and conflict in Darfur to the West. Port Sudan seems far away from all of this chaos. It has gone through much migrant history; Christian, Arab, Turkish, British and now Sudanese. On my recent photographic travel there I made a series of Urban portraits portraying the feeling I got from this strange place. A tranquil colorful and quirky fishing port with few people around setting the backdrop for what looked like an empty stage. Conceptually I focused on shapes and lines to form geometric unity. The same tones and colors of Pink, Red, Blue, Cyan, Purple and Yellow to form visual harmony. Photographing the human footprint in what seems like abandoned objects and places. My idea of desolation and romance to create a feeling of melancholy.
