Man in the space of worlds.
My motivation to conceive this series of photographs was born out of the question about human existence within the space of the world. I was especially inspired by a certain type of space with vast horizontal scope. The depth of such a space is always shaped by the presence of one tiny human element – a temporary being positioned between myself and the world’s infinite horizon. The unique character of these endless fields was contrasted with my daily encounters with the confined landscape of the city. Buildings, walls and squares together with human silhouettes – they form a mosaic of shadows, geometric lines and angles. It’s a space crafted by the human hand, a space more construed than actually created. This is the reason why man constitutes a fully-fledged and coherent element of those compositions. In each of these spaces man develops his own individual meaning.
Surrounded by nature he assumes a different position and role. Man shrinks when confronted with the magnitude of these natural surfaces, standing on the primordial face of Planet Earth. Man becomes the visitor of the world, asking about his meaning among this vastness of horizons.
